Here are a few ways to get in the right faces and grow your business, generate leads, showcase your brand, and get sales! Below we discuss ways in growing your business online.
1. Don’t copy other entrepreneurs
We’re all customers, in many different ways. You’re a customer, and you know that you like to buy from someone you know and trust. If you’re buying stock or services from complete strangers, you have a problem.
Customers generally aren’t stupid, and they can spot if you’re copying a business model and strategies from other businesses. They won’t get to know the real you, therefore they won’t trust you.
When it comes time to make the sale, your customer may well switch to buying from the entrepreneur you’re copying. Don’t be afraid to research other successful business models and frameworks, but don’t be a clone. Let your own brand stand out from the pack!
2. Know who your core audience is
As a business owner, your instinct is to throw your net as wide as possible, to attract as many potential customers as you can. The problem in this scenario is that you end up reaching…nobody. Your marketing efforts are too broad and scattered, and way too easy for people to ignore.
If you’re not hitting a specific target audience, you’re throwing your marketing budget down the loo. Your branding and message needs to be incisive, clear and on point.
3. KISS (keep it simple, sexy!)
Your website should be simple, clean, upmarket, dynamic, fast-loading and functional on all devices. In other words, SCUDFF. Can we make SCUDFF a thing? No?
WordPress is a popular option that has a variety of widgets, plugins, and all that good stuff. Bear in mind that you don’t need ALL of them. And, while you can build your own site with platforms like Wix, you’re going to lose out a LOT on functional streamlining and anti-hacker safety.
When someone visits your website it shouldn’t confuse them. When it comes to your business, keep it simple, too. Build traffic to your website. Learn the biggest struggles your target audience is facing. Create products and services that help solve those problems. Rinse and repeat. Yes, it can be that simple to create a solid foundation.
4. Don’t rely too much on social media
Modern social media is a fantastic, powerful tool for businesses to market themselves, and every business should invest in it. But you shouldn’t make it your number one strategy for traffic and leads.
Focus on building your business on your OWN platform, not someone else ’s. You want people to sign up to your email list, interact with your company, and get personalised follow-up reminder mails. If you rely only on social media marketing, it makes you look a little bit low-rent, and that you don’t really care about customer needs – only their money.
5. Focus on the most important stuff
There’s a wealth of information you can learn online. Most of these things aren’t important to where you are in your specific entrepreneurial journey. Designate some time to figuring out where you are, and stick to what will help you now, and what will help you get to the next step. THAT’S ALL.
We all succumb to information overload, and it can paralyse you if you let it! It can stop you from progressing.
6. Don’t be afraid to charge your full market price
You’re a nice person and if you were super-rich, you’d give people stuff for free – well, at least your family and friends. But you have overheads, and bills to pay. Remember that you’re supplying a valuable service, as well as your time and resources. You deserve to get paid what you’re worth.
Make sure you’re charging your full market value – you can always offer discounts for loyal, long-term customers. If you believe in your own worth, your customers will believe that you’re worth the price!
7. Keep pushing for your goals
At the end of the day, if you want this to succeed, you have to determine right now that you’ll keep going – no matter what. Lots of businesses fail in our modern economic climate, despite business owners’ best efforts. Depending on circumstances, this can be unavoidable.
What’s not avoidable is your level of perseverance. You alone can make your business grow. Don’t give up, take things one step at a time.
So have patience, stay on the path, and stay focused!
